Haiku:

running's a hoppy
bouncing, pounding kind of fun
snowboarding's smoother

or

drunken snowball fight
at night heals a raw spirit
hurts the agile hand

How's that?

The ebb and flow of blog posting is much like riding the ocean in dingy. Sometimes you're on the crest of a wave, riding high and writing like your brain's on fire. Sometimes your in a valley between waves, sitting low and waiting to ascend the next rolling face of inspiration. In the distance, it all averages out to a flat line, a steady even continuation all the way to the horizon. But in close proximities, it's nothing short of a rollercoaster.

I seem to be middling in one of those valleys at the present but have no fear for the next wave is coming. I can feel it. I've got to ramp up the running first and get back on schedule - that process has already begun. Surely, the writing will follow. Unfortunately, the ground swell won't pass my my little corner of the internets until at least Wednesday of next week. I'm snowboarding in Tahoe from Saturday till then.

You've made it this long, another couple days isn't going to kill anyone. Sorry, K. Get yourself a gawker account (email richard) and we'll spend our remaining days belittling and snarking each other to death.

As per my previous prediction, this week has already gone to the shits. And I do mean straight down the toilet. I'm off today babysitting the carpet guys as they replace the floors upstairs and in the basement. They were supposed to take two days but for some reason they decided to actually work efficiently and hopefully will be done today. They're finishing up the last set of stairs now.

I'll actually get to run today but I can't do it till they leave. It's really the rest of the week that I'm working about. Tomorrow, thanks to my lightning fast installers, should be a go. The way it was looking, tomorrow night was going to consist solely of moving furniture, but I should get out now after work - so that's a plus. Thursday and Friday nights I'm out for work events and won't have a chance to run unless I did it during the day, something I've been vehemently opposed to so far. Work has a shower and everything, but I don't feel like changing, stretching, running, showering and they changing again all in the course of an hour. I don't run less than 6 miles a day during the week and that's about 45 minutes right there. The office run is just not an option.

Next week starts class, which should make things so much easier. Feel free to lap up the sarcasm dripping from that statement. I don't know how I'm going to manage to get everything done but I've always been more of a doer and less of a planner and certainly nothing of a thinking. So I'll figure things out when I get to them.

It's the first of the month and I really have nothing to write about. I didn't think up any good topics last night - in fact I couldn't think of much while running other than the finish - and I don't feel like discussing some the topics I've put on the back-burner such as health, body changes, ect. So, instead I'll just say that I'm happy to have a day off. A day where I can eat and drink, preferably alcoholic drinks, as I please. A day that I don't have to worry about running for an hour in the dark when I get home. A day I can use to relax.

I would say I've earned the day, but unfortunately I missed another day this week. Good Christ in heaven, what does it take to get a full week in? It's getting fucking ridiculous. And it's not like I'm simply shirking responsibility here. Every time I've missed a run it has been for a legitimate reason. Apparently, though it doesn't seem that way most of the time, I must have too much of a life for this whole running thing. Who would have thought?

By and by, I'll try again next week. I doubt it's going to happen considering I already know I can't run on Thursday. Oh well. Hopefully the work I'm getting in will be enough. Once the days get longer, things should be easier. Next week will mark a month into training. I'll have to do some kind of self-evaluation, taking stock of how far I've come and hypothesizing on where I need to go.

Have a good Friday internet land, I'll raise a glass to you at happy hour.
